چکیده
This article presents a Harmonic Balance Method-based numerical strategy to provide qualitative characterization of compressor blade’s dynamics when structural contacts occur with the surrounding casing. The mitigation Gibbs phenomenon follows two-pronged approach: (1) regularization unilateral contact law and (2) adjustment Fourier coefficients by means Lanczos filtering technique. In order validate proposed approach, it is first applied an academic cantilever rod undergoing constraints. An in-depth comparative analysis obtained results—with emphasis on displacements, forces velocities—with respect time integration-based reference underlines relevance accuracy methodology. latter then vibration industrial blade: NASA rotor 37. For given configuration, results are thoroughly compared those previously published distinct treatment algorithm. Particular attention paid demonstrate methodology for prediction forces, velocities as well stress fields within blade. Notably, evidenced that methodology, contrary strategy, able capture exact location nonlinear resonance.

The harmonic balance method with arc-length continuation in rotor/stator contact problems
There are a variety of abnormal running conditions in rotating machinery which lead to rotor/stator interaction dynamics which, in turn, can cause a rich mixture of effects associated with rub-related phenomena. These effects manifest themselves in the occurrence of multiple solutions for steady-state vibration response scenarios, including amplitude jumps during rotor acceleration, and vibrati...
متن کاملArc-Length Method for Frictional Contact Problems by using Mathematical Program with Complementarity Constraints
A new formulation as well as a new solution technique is proposed for an equilibrium path-following method in two-dimensional quasi-static frictional contact problems. We consider the classical Coulomb friction law as well as geometrical nonlinearity explicitly. Based on a criterion of maximum dissipation of energy, we propose a formulation as a mathematical program with complementarity constra...

متن کاملThe Harmonic Balance Method
The harmonic balance method is used in most current commercial RF simulation tools. This is due to the fact that it has certain advantages over other common methods used in SPICE, namely (modified) nodal analysis (MNA), which make it better suited to simulate stiff problems and circuits containing transmission lines, nonlinearities and dispersive effects. In this project, the harmonic balance a...

An arc-length equilibrium path-following method is proposed for two-dimensional quasi-static frictional contact problems. We consider the Coulomb friction law as well as geometrical nonlinearity. Incorporating a criterion of maximum dissipation of energy, we propose a formulation as a mathematical program with complementarity constraints (MPCC) in order to avoid unloading solutions in which mos...
